Amaurys Fermin Named WCEUA Central Director

Ryan Silver and The West Coast Elite UA program is blessed to welcome Amaurys Fermin as the Director of the West Coast Elite Central branch. Fermin's addition to the West Coast Elite UA program brings excitement and a new wave of basketball to our program to Central California.

Most recently, Fermin was the Director and founder of 6th Man Basketball, a local AAU developmental club basketball program established in 2016. Serving over 100 Student-Athletes annually, 6th Man Basketball has received recognition as one of the top developmental programs in the state of California covering Student-Athletes in the Central Coast aged 7-18.

Fermin graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in the Big West Conference. During his senior season, he led the Big West Conference with 119 assists and helped the Mustangs reach the program’s second-highest victory total in 18 Division I-seasons with major wins over USC & Fresno State.  After graduation, Fermin played alongside NBA players Al Horford, Karl Anthony Towns and Francisco Garcia on the Dominican Republican National Team that under the direction of John Calipari won a gold medal in the 2012 CentroBasket Championships. Fermin continued his professional career in Europe and Latin America for five seasons. 

In the winter of 2015, he returned to the United States and began his coaching career as the Head JV basketball coach at St. Joseph's High School and assisted with the Varsity program which captured the CIF Southern Section Division 5AA championship state title for the first time since 2004. 

In the fall of 2016, Fermin was hired as an assistant coach for the Allan Hancock College Men’s basketball program located in Santa Maria, CA. In 2017, Hancock College made history after reaching the state Elite 8 tournament for the first time in 44 years. In 2018, Fermin was promoted to Lead Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Hancock College is recognized as one of the top 10 JUCO programs in the state of CA. The relentless recruiter and strategic player development coach carries unique leadership traits where his players trust and believe in his process. Alongside Hancock College’s Head coach Tyson Aye, Fermin enters his fifth season coaching at the college ranks which he has helped and mentored over thirty Student/Athletes continue their basketball career with academic and athletic scholarships at the four year level. In May 2020, Fermin was named the top 50 Collegiate Most Inspirational coaches by Silver Waves Media. The Launch of the West Coast Elite UA central branch will initiate February 2021.
